Chayote: a treasure trove of vitamin C

Often considered a bland vegetable, chayote is actually a nutritional powerhouse. It contains an impressive amount of vitamin C – an average chayote provides nearly 50% of the daily requirement. This vitamin acts as a catalyst in the natural production of collagen, allowing collagen molecules to bind together to form strong structures.

Chayote is also rich in potassium and antioxidants that fight inflammation. People who regularly consume chayote report not only less pain, but also less joint swelling.

Pineapple: the enzyme that facilitates absorption

Pineapple contains bromelain, a special enzyme that breaks down large protein molecules into smaller parts, making them easier for the body to absorb. The highest concentration of bromelain is found in the core of the pineapple, the harder part we usually throw away.

This enzyme also possesses a powerful natural anti-inflammatory effect. Several studies demonstrate that it works almost as well as anti-inflammatory drugs, but without the side effects on the stomach and kidneys.
