Anna looked him in the eye and said coldly, "You're wrong. I've come for you."
The captain blinked, confused. "Who... who do you think you are, speaking to an officer like that?"
She pulled out her ID and shoved it under his nose.
"Lieutenant of Internal Affairs. There are many complaints against you. Your men are starving and wearing rags because the funds allocated for this unit end up in your pocket. You're a thief and a traitor."
"You have no proof," the captain snapped, his voice trembling.
"Actually," Anna replied icily. "Documents, witness statements, transfer records. You're finished."
She ripped the shoulder boards from his uniform. At that moment, two gendarmes stepped in. The captain struggled, but they overpowered him and handcuffed him.
The soldiers who had been sitting motionless for so long suddenly straightened up—a glimmer of hope appeared in their eyes.
Anna turned to them and declared, "From now on, this unit will have a new life. This place will no longer belong to traitors."
