The puzzle image shows five people, labeled A through E. E is about to push a rock down a slope. The rock is spaced far enough apart for a head to fit inside.At the bottom of the slope, D is stuck, only his head sticking out. Next to it, a swing carries another rock, adding to its weight. Below the high part of this swing, deadly spikes threaten C, lying just below. B and A are positioned further to the side. The question is simple: if E pushes the rock, who dies first?
Puzzle Solution
Ignore the lines on the ground that seem to complicate the scene. D will be the first victim, the rock not being aligned to spare his head. Then, the force of the rock will push the swing down, impaling C on the spikes. The swing’s motion will lift the other rock, which will eventually roll onto B. So the order of mortality will be D, C, then B.
