PART 2: A NEW IDENTITY
Elena’s release on bail came unexpectedly.
Outside the police station waited a black armored limousine. Inside sat Magnus Sterling, a legendary Texas oil tycoon and one of the richest men in the world.
“Sit down, Margaret,” he said.
He used a name Elena had not heard since childhood—her birth name, sealed in adoption records decades earlier.
Magnus revealed the truth: he was her biological father.
For years he had searched for her, and news of her arrest had immediately alerted his security team.
“Arthur Pendelton believes you’re alone,” Magnus said, handing her a thick dossier. “He doesn’t realize he just declared war on the Sterling family.”
Elena didn’t cry.
“I don’t want his money,” she said quietly. “I want his life destroyed.”
Magnus nodded slowly.
“Then Elena Vane must disappear,” he replied. “She was a trophy wife. You are my heir. And I will teach you how to hunt.”
For six months Elena vanished from public view.
The world believed she was hiding in disgrace.
In reality she was on Magnus’s Texas ranch, undergoing a transformation. Elite lawyers dismantled Arthur’s fabricated evidence. Financial experts trained her in corporate strategy and market warfare.
She studied business tactics, hostile takeovers, and financial manipulation.
