Harvard-trained liver specialist Dr. Saurabh Sethi has revealed the 10 most effective foods for protecting the organ from disease, and in particular from hepatic steatosis.

The liver is the largest organ in the human body. While it facilitates food digestion, it also allows for the easy storage of energy while eliminating toxins. Yet, according to figures shared by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the rate of liver diseases, and in particular non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a condition characterized by the accumulation of fat in the liver (steatosis) associated with inflammation of the organ (hepatitis), continues to rise. This is worrying news, given that the liver performs at least 500 vital functions. Not only does it regulate blood sugar, but it also produces vitamins, stabilizes blood viscosity, and prevents muscle tremors. It is therefore essential to implement awareness strategies and encourage a healthy diet to preserve long-term health.
